Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is actively seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join their ranks in federal law enforcement, focused on safeguarding the borders of the United States. This role offers an opportunity for individuals who are committed to public safety and law enforcement, contributing to a vital mission that protects the nation and its citizens.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders.
  • Conduct patrols and inspections using various government assets.
  • Interpret and follow tracks and marks related to illegal entry.
  • Engage in surveillance operations, including night operations with infrared scopes.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Strong observational and information-gathering skills.
  • Basics of firearms use and sound judgment in law enforcement matters.
  • Ability to deal with people in a courteous and tactful manner.
