Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to join their elite team and embark on a long-term career in federal law enforcement. This role involves safeguarding U.S. borders, deterring illicit activities, and ensuring the nation's economic prosperity. Successful candidates will undergo training, work in various locations, and enjoy a structured career progression with significant incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, including using infrared technology.
  • Perform patrols and checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and in urban areas.
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using government vehicles and equipment.

Required skills

  • Prior experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure under stress.
  • Skills in questioning, observation, and documentation examination.
  • Experience in making arrests and using firearms effectively.
  • Ability to analyze information swiftly and make prompt decisions.
  • U.S. citizenship and residency requirements.
