Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at GL-5/7 grade levels to join a federal law enforcement career focused on protecting the nation's borders and enhancing economic prosperity. Candidates will embark on a significant mission with excellent pay, job stability, and substantial recruitment and retention incentives available.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers at the borders.
  • Maintain surveillance and patrol international boundaries using various government assets.
  • Perform checks like farm, building, traffic, and city patrols.

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Strong judgment skills regarding firearms and law enforcement matters.
