Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Border Patrol Agent (BPA) at the GL-5/7 levels. Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Perform surveillance and maintain observation of border areas
  • Conduct checks on farms, buildings, and vehicles
  • Patrol international boundaries and waterways using various government assets

Required skills

  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure in stress
  • Ability to gather and analyze information through observation and questioning
  • Experience in law enforcement, security, or military police is a plus
  • Education in criminal justice or related fields may qualify for higher grade levels
  • U.S. citizenship and residency requirements must be met
