Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents to engage in federal law enforcement focused on protecting the borders and ensuring public safety. This role offers a career path with various grade levels and includes significant training and camaraderie within a professional team.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders.
  • Conduct farm, building, traffic, and city checks.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets.
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions, including during night operations.

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement, military police, or public safety
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
