Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their team in Key West, Florida. This role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement focused on protecting the nation's borders and ensuring public safety. Candidates with prior experience in public safety, military police, or law enforcement are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Maintain surveillance and prevent undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at the borders.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and city patrols.
  • Analyze physical evidence related to illegal entries.

Required skills

  • General work experience in public safety or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Skilled in the use of firearms and law enforcement tactics
  • Experience interacting with people in a courteous manner
  • Education in criminal justice or related fields may qualify for higher grades
