Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) for full-time federal law enforcement positions. This role offers the opportunity to safeguard the borders and contribute to national security, while working within a supportive and skilled team. Candidates will undergo training and are eligible for a progression in grade levels with associated pay increases over time.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Conduct surveillance and patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways
  • Perform checks in various environments such as farms, buildings, and urban areas
  • Utilize government assets like vehicles, horses, and ATVs during duty

Required skills

  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure under stress
  • Ability to gather information through questioning and observation
  • Skills in law enforcement, including firearm use and making arrests
  • Educational qualifications may include a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
