Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) in Montana City, Montana, as part of a vital mission in federal law enforcement. This position offers opportunities for a long-term career, with excellent base pay and substantial recruitment and retention incentives up to $60,000.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Maintain surveillance and interpret physical evidence of illegal entry
  • Conduct various checks including farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using multiple government assets

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure under stress
  • Capability to gather information through questioning and observation
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience for GL-5 and GL-7 positions
  • Knowledge of firearms and law enforcement practices
