Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) in Jacksonville, Florida. This role is ideal for those aspiring for a long-term federal law enforcement career that contributes to national security by protecting the borders and deterring illegal activities. Applicants with backgrounds in public safety, security, military, or law enforcement are encouraged to apply, with immediate full-time positions available.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship and violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.
  • Maintain surveillance using covert positions and tools like infrared scopes.
  • Perform checks on farms, buildings, traffic, and conduct city patrols.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.

Required skills

  • Experience in general work demonstrating decision-making and composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to learn regulations through classroom training and on-the-job instruction.
  • Strong observational skills for gathering concise information.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or completion of a related college education is preferred.
  • Experience in law enforcement or military may qualify for higher grade levels.
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish is necessary.
