Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at the GL-5/7 grade levels. This role is a full-time federal law enforcement position, focusing on safeguarding America by patrolling borders, preventing unlawful entry, and interacting with the public. Candidates will receive comprehensive training at the Border Patrol Academy and can qualify for various recruitment and retention incentives.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations.
  • Apprehend undocumented migrants and smugglers.
  • Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.
  • Conduct farm, building, traffic, and city checks.
  • Maintain surveillance from covert positions.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Skills in gathering information through questioning and observation.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English.
  • Formal training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy.
