Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking to hire entry-level Border Patrol Agents at the GL-5/7 grade levels. This role offers a federal law enforcement career focused on protecting the borders of the United States, with immediate full-time positions available. Candidates with backgrounds in public safety, military police, or law enforcement are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and custom law violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.
  • Conduct patrols using various government assets.
  • Perform farm, building, traffic, and city checks.
  • Interpret and follow evidence of illegal entries.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, and law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Skills in questioning, observation, and examination of documents.
  • Firearms proficiency and ability to deal effectively with people.
  • Ability to analyze information quickly and make prompt decisions.
  • Spanish language proficiency is required.
