Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking candidates for the position of Border Patrol Agent at the GL-5/7 grade levels in Essex, Vermont. This is an entry-level federal law enforcement career aimed at protecting the nation and its citizens, where candidates will receive extensive training and work alongside a dedicated team focused on safeguarding borders and enforcing immigration laws.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.
  • Conduct patrols and checks on the international boundary and coastal waterways.
  • Maintain surveillance using various government assets, including vehicles and surveillance equipment.
  • Follow physical evidence of illegal entry and conduct operational checks.
