Overview

As a Border Patrol Agent (BPA) at the U.S. Border Patrol, you will embark on a federal law enforcement career focused on protecting America's borders. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to make a difference while working alongside an elite team dedicated to safeguarding the nation.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers by maintaining surveillance.
  • Interpret physical evidence of illegal entries.
  • Conduct patrols and checks on farms, buildings, and transportation.
  • Utilize various government assets such as vehicles and vessels for patrol duties.

Required skills

  • Experience in law enforcement, public safety, or military police.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Skills in observation and documentation compilation.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience for certain grade levels.
