Job Description

Overview

The Border Patrol Agent position at the U.S. Border Patrol is an entry-level federal law enforcement career focused on safeguarding the nation's borders and preventing illegal activities. Candidates will receive training at the Border Patrol Academy and will work closely with a team dedicated to protecting American citizens.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers
  • Perform surveillance and patrol border areas using various government assets
  • Interpret and follow physical evidence of illegal entries
  • Conduct farm, building, and traffic checks

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to analyze information rapidly
  • Knowledge of firearms usage
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is preferred
