Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents to protect the borders of the United States. This position offers a long-term federal law enforcement career with significant duties involving public safety and security.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violations of immigration and customs laws.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders.
  • Conduct surveillance using covert tactics, including night operations.
  • Perform various checks, including farm, building, traffic, and city patrols.
  • Patrol international boundaries and waterways with government vehicles and resources.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, law enforcement, military police, or security.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Skills in gathering information through observation and questioning.
  • Firearm proficiency and sound judgment in law enforcement contexts.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
