Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their mission of protecting the American borders. This role is critical for safeguarding the country and involves tasks in federal law enforcement, public safety, and security operations. Newly hired agents will receive training in various duties aimed at preventing illegal immigration and customs violations.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration violations.
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.
  • Maintain surveillance in covert positions, including night operations.
  • Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship status.
  • Perform patrols using various transportation methods including vehicles, horses, and ATVs.
  • Conduct building checks, traffic checks, and city patrols.

Required skills

  • Experience in public safety, military police, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions in critical situations.
  • Strong observational skills and capacity for gathering information.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate various governmental assets for patrolling.
