Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking entry-level Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to join their ranks in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement with immediate openings and emphasizes public safety and national security. Applicants will be part of a dedicated workforce seeking to protect the borders and uphold immigration laws.

Key responsibilities

  • Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws
  • Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders
  • Maintain surveillance using various tools during night operations
  • Perform farm checks, building checks, and traffic checks
  • Patrol international boundaries and waterways using government assets

Required skills

  • General work experience demonstrating decision-making and composure under stress
  • Ability to gather concise information through questioning and observation
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience for GL-5 level
  • Specialized work experience for GL-7 level involving law enforcement skills
