Overview

The Bomb Technician (EOD) role in the U.S. Navy involves locating, identifying, rendering safe, and disposing of explosive threats using advanced technologies and skills. This position requires working in various environments, including land, sea, and underwater, to protect forces and civilians while supporting fleet and joint operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

  • Detonate and demolish hazardous munitions and outdated explosives
  • Neutralize ordnance including sea mines, torpedoes, and improvised explosive devices
  • Remotely disable unsafe ordnance using robotic and diagnostic technology
  • Conduct parachute and helicopter insertion operations
  • Clear waterways of mines in support of ships and submarines
  • Provide explosive ordnance support to law enforcement agencies
