Job Title: Body Shop Journeyist/Class A (Rail Fleet Sustainability)Utah Transit AuthorityDescription Job Summary As a Body Shop Journeyist your main responsibilities will be making complex repairs on all UTA vehicles, including, but not limited to body and paint work, fabrication, and training other employees with new skills. You can enjoy a $2,000 Hiring Incentive Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION/TRAININGDiploma or certificate from a two-year technical school in mechanical trades or one and a half years of related trade school experience or equivalent apprenticeship program training I-car or ASE acceptedAble to acquire welding certificate including mig, aluminum, and stainless weldingAble to acquire forklift sit-down counter balance certification (UTA provided)Able to acquire crane certification (UTA provided)Knowledgeable in fiber glass and composite repairsHave required toolsAble to acquire and maintain DOT physical cardAble to perform physical requirements of the job to include walking long distances in a quick manner on uneven surfaces, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly and over 51 lbs occasionally on uneven surfaces, prolonged periods of standing, crawl and lay on uneven surfaces, able to work in tight and awkward positions, work outside in all weather conditions, able to safely work at heights above 16 feet, and constantly aware of surroundingsAble to acquire and maintain Roadway Worker Protection CertificationAble to acquire and maintain Blue Flag Worker Protection CertificationAble to acquire and maintain UTA Wayside Power CertificationMake complex repairs on all UTA vehicles using various mechanic's toolsRebuilds and fabricates components with little or no supervisionTeaches and/or assists employees of lesser skills in developing their skills and high standards of competenceHave a valid Utah Driver's LicenseBe a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 yearsCannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 yearsEXPERIENCEThree years previous work experience in the body industry or related trade school experience or equivalent apprenticeship program trainingExperience in applying vinyl, striping and graphicsExperience and certification in automotive and industrial paintingOne year welding experience, must have welding/plasma cutting experienceOne year Fabrication experienceKNOWLEDGE/SKILLSAble to pass the Class A Body Shop examExtensive design and fabrication, body work, and paint skillsKnowledge of hydraulics and pneumaticsUnderstanding of electrical and pneumatic schematics for multimodal transit vehicle systemsKnowledge of CNC machine equipment preferredAble to complete estimates and accident repair estimatesABILITIESSafety conscious at all timesWork closely with others in a team environmentAble to perform all aspects of safe and proper painting proceduresAble to work unsupervised This job requires regular and predictable attendance - OR -An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
