Gordy's Marine is seeking a skilled Boat Mechanic to join its team in Des Plaines, Illinois. The ideal candidate should have a passion for boating and a strong commitment to customer service, excelling in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while performing various mechanical repairs and maintenance on boats.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct service calls and complete all major and minor mechanical repairs
  • Perform boat maintenance, prep, and rigging
  • Install accessories and handle warranty work according to manufacturer policies
  • Document all customer repair needs on service work orders
  • Furnish own hand tools essential for the job

Required skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a mechanic
  • Experience repairing and servicing boats, including engines and electrical systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of marine systems and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Relevant certifications or technical training preferred (e.g., ABYC, ASE)
