Board Member About the Company Pioneering organization providing support services to the Deaf & hard of hearing community Industry Hospital & Health Care Type Non Profit Founded 1940 Employees 201-500 Specialties - hearing health - asl - lsq classes - accessibility services - mental health - employment services - audiology - speech language pathology - and assistive technology About the Role The Company is seeking dedicated individuals to join its national organization as volunteer Board Members. The successful candidates will be part of a progressive, policy-governed Board of Directors that provides strategic oversight to the organization. The ideal Board Members will have a collaborative and engaging leadership style, with a strong commitment to the vision and mission of the organization, which is focused on reducing barriers for the Deaf and hard of hearing communities. While the positions are voluntary, they are of great importance, and the Board Members are expected to bring a diverse range of skills, business competencies, and community leadership experiences to ensure best-practice governance. Critical competencies for the Board Members include a financial designation, government relations expertise, experience in the health, social services, or disabilities sector, and/or lived experience for one organization, and experience with private or family foundations, fundraising, granting institutions, and/or oversight of research due diligence for the other. The role requires attendance at four virtual meetings per year and a commitment to the values of the organization.
