Overview

The University of Cincinnati's Hoxworth Blood Center is seeking several full-time Blood Bank Technicians to work in the Components Manufacturing Laboratory. This role involves preparing various blood components for transfusion and requires the candidate to conduct complex laboratory procedures using specialized equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare blood component products for transfusion, including red blood cells, plasma, and cryoprecipitate.
  • Label and dispose of unusable blood products.
  • Train new employees and assist in instructing students and residents.
  • Evaluate donor specimens and perform electronic data entry related to blood bank testing.
  • Manage blood product inventory and process incoming specimens.
  • Perform quality control checks and maintain a safe work area.
  • Monitor supplies and perform related duties as needed.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.
  • Experience in blood product processing.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality control.
  • Relevant training or certifications.
