Job Description

Overview

The Behavioral Health Clinical Therapist at UCHealth provides assessment, triage, and treatment to patients and families in a behavioral health setting. This role is critical for planning dispositions, providing education, and initiating psychiatric holds while operating as an independently licensed clinician.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement counseling and therapy for assigned patients in individual and group settings
  • Interview and assess patients and/or their families and caregivers
  • Determine and arrange for needed services and interventions
  • Participate in case reviews and care conferences to evaluate patient progress
  • Assist with discharge planning and referrals to community-based resources
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods to meet patient and family educational needs
  • Train new staff, students, and interns as assigned
  • Utilize critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • State licensure as LCSW, LPC, MFT, or Licensed Addiction Counselor
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced CPI certification within 30 days of hire
  • Experience in psychological assessment, treatment planning, and case management
