Overview

McManimon, Scotland & Baumann, LLC is looking for a highly skilled Bankruptcy Associate Attorney with over three years of experience to join their Bankruptcy & Restructuring and Litigation Services practices in Roseland, New Jersey. This role involves working on sophisticated commercial and fiduciary matters in both federal and state courts.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent debtors, creditors, trustees, receivers, and assignees in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda for bankruptcy and commercial litigation
  • Assist with assignments for the benefit of creditors and fiduciary representations
  • Participate in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations under senior attorneys' supervision
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

Required skills

  • Jurisdiction: New Jersey Bar (Admission to New York Bar a plus)
  • 3+ years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, or complex commercial litigation
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience with court appearances or assisting in contested matters
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines, working independently and in a team
