Overview

The Banking Specialist role at IFAS involves working with the US Department of State's Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services in various financial operations. This position supports disbursing operations, including electronic funds transfers, account reconciliation, and financial analysis, as part of a global team.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and maintain journals or subsidiary ledgers for RFMS/D transactions
  • Balance and reconcile US Dollar and Local Currency Accounts
  • Review invoices and validate information from submitting offices
  • Process and verify transaction types in RFMS/D
  • Reconcile automated records and bank statements
  • Research discrepancies and provide solutions for account reconciliation
  • Analyze Treasury Reports against DoS financial systems' reports
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and manage USD checks

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in banking/financial management
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in the field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem solving and attention to detail
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with DoS or government systems (preferred)
