Overview

Pacific Life is seeking an AVP, Workforce Benefits Product & Pricing to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of their Group Life, Group Disability, and Leave/Absence portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring the offerings balance customer value, profitable growth, and risk management, and involves collaboration across various departments such as Pricing Strategy, Underwriting, and Legal/Compliance. The AVP will develop and manage a high-performing team in a hybrid work environment, supporting the company's mission of delivering impactful benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Own portfolio strategy and outcomes for Workforce Benefits products.
  • Establish integrated product and pricing vision aligned with growth objectives.
  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, including innovations and business case development.
  • Ensure product offerings are compliant, scalable, and operationally executable.
  • Establish and approve pricing frameworks and portfolio guardrails.
  • Drive differentiation of product and pricing capabilities.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team, providing direction and coaching.
  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end reserving activities.
  • Lead approvals and ensure governance standards are met for product and pricing.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, business, or economics
  • 10+ years of experience in workforce benefits or group insurance
  • Actuarial credential (FSA) preferred
  • Leadership experience in product and/or pricing management
  • Ability to lead cross-functional decision-making
  • Strong executive communication skills
  • Experience guiding initiatives through governance processes
  • Demonstrated people leadership and talent development
