Underwriting Manager Responsible for the operational underwriting of a mature, regional farm mutual reinsurance specialty portfolio and an emerging regional broker assumed reinsurance portfolio. Responsibilities Manages, monitors, and builds a profitable portfolio of assumed reinsurance business and assists in developing, short- and long-range goals, strategies and processes.Oversees operational underwriting of property and casualty regional reinsurance business and helps the company deploy capital that maximizes profit. In this role the AVP develops broker and farm mutual partnerships and develops opportunities that will help grow the business profitably.Accountable for underwriting submissions and pricing reinsurance programs including Catastrophe XOL, Property Per Risk XOL, Quota Share, Aggregate XOL, ILW, and Multi Line XOL. Provides quotes and authorize on contracts. Identifies opportunities to best diversity portfolio. Works with catastrophe modeling and actuarial pricing teams to evaluate submissions.Coordinates review of contract wording and discuss with legal counsel. Negotiates contract terms with brokers. Operates within corporate risk guidelines with respect to property aggregates and occurrence limits.Develops objectives for annual underwriting business plan in support of company goals and marketing strategy.Establishes underwriting staff productivity standards and monitors quality assurance by reviewing management reports and reviewing portfolio audit reports.Responsibility for the profitability of the reinsurance division.Accountable for review of mutual partners and decisions regarding rates and contract renewals.Plans salary budget for team and submits request during planning time. Considers merit increases, promotional increases, and add to staff needs when making request. Adheres to set budget throughout fiscal year.Responsible for adhering to budget constraints. Ensures effective control of results and takes corrective action to achieve technology objectives within designated budgets.Responsible for decisions over all aspects of reinsurance underwriting to include strategic plans and implementation of strategic plans.Completes and leads significant projects, predictive analysis, and builds and maintains reinsurance relationships.Interacts with the brokers, company leaders, CEO and/or the Board of DirectorsAll other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with ten (10) years of reinsurance related experience and a demonstrated skill set in best practices related to the reinsurance industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA preferred. Extensive experience working with brokers is preferred.Industry designations preferred (eg. ARe, CPCU, CFA, CPA, FCAS).Experience underwriting U.S. and regional accounts preferred.Experience with property reinsurance pricing methods including exposure and experience analysis for catastrophe and non-catastrophe perils.In-depth knowledge of third-party catastrophe modeling software products, their applicability
