Overview

The Avionics/Electrical Technician 2 at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Westfield, Massachusetts, is responsible for providing technical expertise in testing aircraft systems as well as troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies. The role involves ensuring quality and efficiency in installations, compliance with safety regulations, and adapting to schedule changes while maintaining the company's high standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrates technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting
  • Installs and conducts functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft
  • Troubleshoots processes to provide quality repairs of malfunctioning systems
  • Performs and documents all work accurately for inspection
  • Sets up and operates test equipment and evaluates performance and reliability
  • Complies with engineering changes and safety regulations
  • May perform flight tests on aircraft as required
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing

Required skills

  • Four years experience in an avionics/electrical career field or two years of accredited schooling and two years related
  • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems beyond avionics such as hydraulics, landing gear, and flight controls
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams
  • Experience with wiring techniques including splicing, soldering, and pinning
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined areas
  • Excellent communication skills
