Job Description

Overview

The Automation Technician Nights at Agropur in Madison, Wisconsin, is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation and computer-controlled systems using their knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and computers. This role emphasizes collaboration and accountability, as well as contributing to a culture where people support each other to make a real impact in the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor automated systems using a computer
  • Troubleshoot automation systems with various PLC programs
  • Perform checks and calibration of plant floor equipment
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance work and complete documentation
  • Install new electrical circuits and help troubleshoot production problems
  • Maintain and oversee automation activities in the manufacturing plant
  • Calibrate instruments throughout the plant
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and quality assurance policies
  • Support safety policies and report safety hazards

Required skills

  • Associate's or Technical Degree in Electrical Technology or related field
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of wiring electrical control panels and equipment
  • Experience in planning, selecting, testing, and maintaining equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Problem-solving skills using logic and methods
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changes
  • Organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate math and computer skills including Microsoft Excel and field-specific software
