Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be integral in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance within our fulfillment centers. Your role will involve troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize material handling systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining critical automation systems
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and collaborate with maintenance and operations to address performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Perform and analyze System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Experience dealing with material handling, flow, and capacity
  • Experience with industrial control systems, both hardware and software
