Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be integral to maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance within fulfillment centers. Your role will involve providing proactive automation and technical support, troubleshooting control systems, and enhancing material handling systems to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining critical automation systems
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and collaborate with maintenance/operations to address performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, locally and remotely
  • Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC
  • Experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support
  • Ladder Logic and structured programming experience from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Experience with motor controls, including starters and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures and industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret and develop mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Programming experience with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software
