Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be integral to maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers. You will provide proactive controls automation and technical support, troubleshoot complex control systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize material handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical for operations
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC
  • Experience in process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with HMI and control network components, including maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret and modify mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience in preventive maintenance procedures and industrial controls
