Job Description

Overview

As an Automation Engineer at Amazon, you will be integral to enhancing equipment reliability and operational performance within our fulfillment centers. Your role will focus on troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams on material handling equipment systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining critical automation systems
  • Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and collaborate with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, both locally and remotely
  • Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling system performance

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Proficiency in electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical systems, and robotics
  • Proficiency in interpreting and developing mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience programming with RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software platforms
