Overview

S.A. Morman & Co. is looking for an Automatic Door Operator Installation and Service Technician to join their team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This crucial role involves the installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting of automatic door systems in commercial and institutional settings, ensuring compliance with ADA and ANSI standards. Key responsibilities

  • Install and service low energy automatic door operators
  • Mount operators, arms, and related hardware to doors and frames
  • Install and configure activation devices, including push plates and sensors
  • Run and terminate low-voltage wiring for activation and safety devices
  • Connect to available 120VAC power at operator locations
  • Adjust and program operators for optimal performance
  • Ensure installations meet ADA and ANSI requirements
  • Perform system testing to confirm safe and proper operation
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing operator systems in the field
  • Maintain clean, organized job sites and complete service documentation
  • Communicate job status and any issues with internal teams

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience in door hardware, automatic operators, or low-voltage installation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring and electrical connections
  • Ability to read and interpret installation instructions and job drawings
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and ladders/lifts
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
