Overview

The Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee position at Safelite is designed for individuals looking to kickstart their careers in auto glass repair. Trainees will receive hands-on and classroom training to become proficient technicians, gaining essential skills and the Safelite SafeTech certification for glass installation, repair, and recalibration. The role emphasizes a positive attitude and commitment to high-quality service, while aiming to create unexpected happiness for customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on and classroom training to learn auto glass installation and repair techniques
  • Assist in recalibrating automotive safety systems and performing diagnostic testing
  • Study and pass testing to achieve Safelite certification
  • Safely operate company and customer vehicles as well as tools and chemicals
  • Provide additional services and products as needed
  • Comply with all company policies and standards

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical directions in English
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Professionalism and commitment to customer service
