Overview

USAA is seeking a Mid-Level Auto Adjuster to manage moderately complex auto insurance claims in Tampa, Florida. The role involves investigating claims, determining liability, negotiating settlements, and providing exceptional customer service while adhering to state laws and regulations. This position offers a supportive work environment with a flexible schedule that includes remote work for eligible employees after six months in the office.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate liability and apply appropriate coverage for auto claims
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and settle moderately complex auto claims
  • Identify coverage concerns and create Special Investigation Unit referrals when necessary
  • Gather information from various parties to determine liability
  • Document the thought process throughout the claims process
  • Collaborate with business partners to facilitate claims resolution
  • Support members and business partners through effective communication
  • Apply developing knowledge of insurance products and claims handling processes
  • Assist in workload surges and catastrophe response operations
  • Work on various types of claims, including those of higher complexity

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of customer service experience
  • Experience handling low complexity auto non-injury liability claims
  • Ability to acquire and maintain insurance adjuster license within 90 days
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Experience managing a pending inventory
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret policy language
  • Proficiency with Guidewire or similar claims management systems
  • Bachelor's degree or industry designation (e.g., AIC, CPCU)
