Overview

Genworth is seeking an Attorney for their Insurance Operations team in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role involves providing legal advice and counsel across various matters related to life insurance policies, intellectual property, and data privacy, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while supporting business goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise in the administration of in-force insurance policies.
  • Advise on compliance with laws and regulations such as HIPAA and GLBA.
  • Review and assist with data privacy requests and compliance projects.
  • File renewals and extensions for patents and trademarks.
  • Simplify complex legal concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Leverage business relationships and resources to deliver legal support.

Required skills

  • JD degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Two to four years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency.
  • Experience in insurance legal matters or regulated industries.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment and data privacy laws.
