Overview

A well-established law firm in Troy, Michigan is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to join its Labor & Employment Practice Group. This role focuses on counseling employers on complex employment matters, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and representing clients in various litigation phases.

Key responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft, and review employment-related agreements and policies
  • Advise employers on labor and employment law compliance and risk management
  • Represent clients in all phases of employment litigation
  • Draft pleadings and motions
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Manage discovery
  • Appear in court and before administrative agencies
  • Counsel clients on workplace issues, including hiring, discipline, and wage compliance
  • Develop and manage strong client relationships

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law
  • Experience in labor and employment law, including litigation
  • Strong analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Portable book of business is a plus
