Overview

The Athletic Trainer at WellStar Health Systems in Augusta, Georgia is tasked with delivering health care services as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves providing athletic training services, injury prevention, clinical evaluation, immediate care, and treatment for high school athletes, including coverage for practices and events on an as-needed basis.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate athletic injuries and provide preventive taping for high school athletes
  • Educate athletes, coaches, and parents on injury prevention and treatment
  • Coordinate scheduling for radiologic studies and clinic appointments
  • Provide athletic training coverage during assigned events and practices
  • Maintain injury and treatment logs for student-athletes
  • Act as a liaison between various stakeholders including coaches and parents
  • Ensure a clean and organized Athletic Training Room
  • Promote safety in the community and assist in program implementation

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
  • Athletic Trainer certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to follow and interpret organizational policies
  • Experience in providing athletic training services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
