Job Description

Overview

The Athletic Trainer at Wellstar Health Systems, Inc. is responsible for providing athletic training services in accordance with Georgia state practice acts. This role involves evaluating and treating athletic injuries, educating athletes and coaches, and coordinating community coverage on an as-needed basis, primarily in a high school setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate athletic injuries to high school athletes
  • Provide preventive and supportive taping of athletes
  • Educate athletes, coaches, and parents about injury prevention and treatment
  • Coordinate scheduling for radiologic studies and patient clinic appointments
  • Provide athletic training coverage for assigned schools
  • Act as a liaison among department directors, team physicians, and student-athletes
  • Maintain injury/treatment logs for student-athletes
  • Secure, stock, and maintain a clean Athletic Training Room
  • Promote athletic and sports safety in the community

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Less than 1 year of athletic training experience
  • Ability to follow and interpret departmental and organizational policies
  • Time management skills
  • Strong communication skills
