Overview

The Athletic Trainer - Orthopaedics position at UNC Health in Chapel Hill requires a certified professional responsible for preventing, assessing, treating, and rehabilitating athletic injuries. This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and works within an inclusive team dedicated to exceptional patient care in orthopaedics.

Key responsibilities

  • Casting patients and providing patient care with splints, braces, and crutches
  • Answering patient clinical phone calls and completing disability paperwork
  • Educating patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise
  • Obtaining and updating necessary patient information and history
  • Ordering appropriate medical tests and performing thorough medical examinations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible
  • BLS for healthcare providers
  • One year of experience as an athletic trainer preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
