Job Description

Overview

UNC Health is looking for an Athletic Trainer for their Orthopaedics department in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The role involves the clinical evaluation and education of patients with athletic injuries, as well as performing various treatment and patient care tasks. Applicants will join a motivated team dedicated to providing equitable care within the community.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide patient care including casting, bracing, and therapeutic exercise
  • Carry out treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Educate patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercises
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff members
  • Obtain and update patient information and medical histories
  • Perform physical examinations and document findings
  • Answer patient clinical phone calls and complete disability paperwork

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification
  • Licensure by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners (or license eligible)
  • BLS for healthcare providers
  • One year of experience as an athletic trainer (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
