Overview

Heard & Smith, LLP is seeking a dedicated Associate Disability Attorney to join their team in Los Angeles, California. This role focuses on providing legal support to clients in disability claims, contributing to the firm’s mission of client-centered advocacy and support. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Social Security Disability law and a passion for helping clients achieve justice and financial stability.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to clients regarding disability claims
  • Prepare for and represent clients at disability hearings before Social Security Administrative Law Judges
  • Conduct legal writing at the ALJ and Appeals Council levels
  • Communicate with clients via telephone, mail, and email throughout the disability process
  • Travel to hearings in various cities and states as required

Required skills

  • Attorney License
  • 1-3+ years of experience in Social Security Disability law
  • Experience conducting 200 or more hearings before SSA ALJs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Fast Internet connection (20MB+) and wired Ethernet for home office
  • Quiet home office environment
