Overview

KARL STORZ is seeking an Associate Director of Operations Accounting to lead the accounting function across North America, focusing on revenue recognition, inventory, product costing, and gross margin. The ideal candidate will thrive at the intersection of accounting and operations, guiding a high-performing team while partnering with various departments to drive operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all North America Operations Accounting activities including revenue recognition and product costing.
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as the accounting subject matter expert for revenue and inventory accounting.
  • Partner with Internal and External Audit to support audits and statutory reporting.
  • Own Operations Accounting policies and ensure compliance.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives and enhancements for SAP S/4HANA.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 7+ years of leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong experience with inventory and cost accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build cross-functional partnerships
