Overview

The University of Illinois Foundation is seeking an Associate Director of Gift Planning in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves serving as a fundraising expert for planned giving, providing collaboration and technical support to development officers, donors, and advisors while managing a personal portfolio of prospects.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and assistance on technical aspects of outright and deferred gifts, including tax and financial considerations
  • Liaise with the three universities within the University of Illinois System regarding charitable gift planning
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, identifying and cultivating gift planning opportunities
  • Stay current on tax laws and best practices in charitable gift planning
  • Assist in implementing planned gift marketing strategies and fundraising campaigns
  • Deliver training on gift planning techniques to internal and external stakeholders

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising or charitable gift planning
  • Knowledge of law, taxation, trusts, or investments
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and analytic abilities
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Occasional night and weekend work
