Overview

The Associate Director for the Government and Community Relations team at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources will focus on strengthening relationships with key internal and external partners, including elected officials at various government levels. This role involves strategic planning and advocacy to advance the mission of UC ANR while providing flexible hybrid work arrangements for eligible applicants.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement government and community relations strategies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government officials and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with various UC ANR units to promote institutional goals.
  • Monitor governmental developments affecting UC ANR programs and interests.
  • Prepare testimony and outreach materials for government audiences.
  • Manage community stakeholder relationships and promote community awareness of UC ANR.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years working in government or policy-making environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of UC ANR's mission and objectives.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in government and community relations.
  • Ability to navigate complex political issues.
