Overview

Brown & Crouppen Law Firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join their Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation and Pre-Litigation Practice in Kansas City. This role is perfect for attorneys early in their career, offering hands-on litigation experience and exposure to various aspects of personal injury law.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and case evaluations
  • Work with case managers and investigators to gather evidence
  • Engage in client consultations and keep clients informed
  • Draft demand letters and negotiate settlements
  • Collaborate with attorneys and medical experts
  • Take and defend depositions of clients and witnesses
  • Draft discovery requests, pleadings, and motions
  • Argue motions in court and handle motion practice
  • Monitor case progress and develop litigation strategies
  • Prepare for and participate in jury trials
  • Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel
  • Attend court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences

Required skills

  • 1-3 years' experience in personal injury cases
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license in Illinois and Missouri
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience in courtroom motion practice
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
