Overview

Brown & Crouppen Law Firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join their Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation and Pre-Litigation Practice in Kansas City, Missouri. This position provides an excellent opportunity for early-career attorneys to gain hands-on litigation experience while working closely with seasoned attorneys on various aspects of personal injury law.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and case evaluations to determine claim viability
  • Engage in client consultations and keep clients informed about case progress
  • Draft demand letters and negotiate settlements with insurance companies
  • Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and opposing parties
  • Draft discovery requests, pleadings, and motions
  • Argue motions in court and handle motion practice
  • Prepare for and participate in jury trials
  • Monitor case progress and develop litigation strategies
  • Attend court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences

Required skills

  • 1-3 years' experience handling personal injury cases
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license in good standing
  • Bar licensure in both Illinois and Missouri
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience in courtroom motion practice
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict court deadlines
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
