Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers, is a settlement house founded in 1894 that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services-social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness-which significantly improve the lives of 16,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and set the standard for comprehensive educational and family services in the preeminent Early Childhood setting. Our holistic approach prepares children for success in elementary school and in life by offering a seamless, age-appropriate curriculum that strengthens language, literacy, motor, social and emotional and cognitive development, as well as integrated Family Services. Our educational curriculum includes art, music, movement, swimming, farm-to-table meals and many other components from our multifaceted settlement house.We are currently seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our terrific team in the Early Education Center. Reporting directly to and supervised by the Early Education Center Deputy Director, ResponsibilitiesWe have an opportunity for an outstanding candidate(s) who will have diverse responsibilities supporting classrooms in the Early Education Center. QualificationsHigh School Diploma, with a CDA (Child Development Assistant credential) or a Bachelor's degree Experience working with children ages 3 - 6Sound knowledge of child developmentAn ability to relate to children, staff and parents in a positive and constructive mannerDaily flexibility and an interest in working in multiple classroomsService oriented and committed to working in early childhood educationSpanish fluency a plusCompensation: $55,000 annually..
