Overview

The City of San Luis is seeking a part-time Assistant City Prosecutor to participate in the prosecution of cases in the City court under the supervision of the City Prosecutor. This role involves representing the State in misdemeanor cases and performing various related duties, including legal research, case management, and courtroom appearances.

Key responsibilities

  • Appear at routine hearings in municipal court
  • Review police reports and determine charge prosecution
  • Prepare criminal cases for trial and try cases
  • Assist victims in making restitution requests
  • Conduct legal research and compile legal documents
  • Monitor defendants' compliance with legal agreements
  • Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior while interacting with the public

Required skills

  • Knowledge of criminal law and municipal court procedures
  • Legal analysis and research skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Negotiation and case management abilities
  • Familiarity with legal software like Prosecutor by Karpel and Microsoft Office
  • Juris Doctor Degree or Arizona Legal Paraprofessional license
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
